FUN ACTIVITIES AND PROJECTS

“I AM” Poem: This is a great activity to do with students at the beginning of the year to get to know them or their leadership styles. This is also great for a unit on poetry.

Leadership Activity:  This activity helps students or adults understand their unique leadership style and also learn about the leadership styles of their peers or team members.

New Years Goals:  This assignment allows students to practice writing by reflecting and setting goals for the New Year ahead. Students usually focus on setting personal goals for this assignment.  However, I push students to think outside of their own personal goals. I challenge them to not only set objectives for personal growth, but also consider goals for their family, community, and the world. This helps them reflect on ways they can positively impact others.

Letters To Santa: One of my most favorite assignments for December is for students to write letters to Santa. The catch is that students must write their letter from the perspective of someone we have studied this year in history. The students will love it and it will teach skills and knowledge in letter writing, perspective, and character. I also included an alternative assignment for students who do celebrate Christmas or Santa.  This assignment allows students creativity to shine.

Stories of the Year: One of my favorite assignments during December is to put students into the role of a journalist. I let them know that TIME magazine has hired them to write 3 articles for them to write their “Stories of The Year.” In this product, you will get information for what 3 stories students should write their article about. You will also get 5 freeTech Tools that students can use to publish their magazine articles.
